THINGS TO KNOW:
A pre-exam "review session" is planned to help you prepare. The session is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10, 2002 in Steamboat Springs at the conference center from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Don't count on this session alone to prepare you for the exam. You will need to spend time before the conference reviewing the materials that come from ASFPM. The exam will be held the following day from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m.
If you are an individual member of ASFPM, the cost for the exam is $100. If you are not a member of ASFPM, the cost is $260. The additional cost reflects the $80 annual dues for ASFPM over the two-year period that the certification covers. Please note that being a member of CASFM does not make you a member of ASFPM. They are separate memberships.
CASFM is not charging any additional fees for the exam.
Because Colorado does not have it's own certification program, you will need to contact ASFPM to apply for the exam, and will need to pay ASFPM directly. This is ASFPM's program to administer, CASFM is simply providing space for the exam and proctoring it. We were unsuccessful in our attempt to coordinate a "one-stop-shopping" arrangement with ASFPM. You can review the full details of the CFM program as well as information regarding application at ASFPM's website by clicking here.
You need to be a member of CASFM to sit for the exam at the CASFM conference.
You need to acquire 16 Continuing Education Credits over a two year period to maintain certification. It is possible (but not guaranteed) to obtain these credits by maintaining your membership in CASFM and attending the full length of the CASFM annual conference each year. CEC's are certified and maintained by ASFPM.
