3c. Previous Ideas – other ideas were also brought up, Chester
Watson is conducting a free EPA workshop on Total Maximum Daily Loads, could
send announcement to members, Susan will check on this. Also discussed were
UDFCD software, UDFCD Volume 3, Floodplain Elevation certification (held around
the state, same as done in Ft. Collins). Also discussed if CASFM should get
involved in the NPDES Phase2 task force. Dan Bare volunteered.

Chip has retired after many years of great
service. We will give him a plaque at the conference. Discussed various
options, Terry Bowen? (you didn’t come so that’s what you get!), Dan knew of a
woman in Douglas County that puts together newsletters. He will follow up and
get a price from her.

6. ASFPM Update
No new information received this period.
7. 2000 Conference Planning
2000 Conference is August 30th, 31st and September 1st at the Sheridan in Steamboat Springs. Conference theme is “Storming into the 21st Century”
Jamie reported on how the conference planning was
going. So far we have only received three abstracts, but the deadline isn’t
until the end of the month. We talked about different ideas for a keynote
speaker. Craig will give Jamie a contact name from Shea homes to follow up on.
John suggested either Mark Reisner (author of Cadallac Desert) or CSU Professor
Dan Tyler. He will follow up with them to get information. We discussed a
growth and development related panel in the afternoon. Potentially someone from
DRCOG like Larry Mugler, someone from CML, Bill DeGroot, a developer, local
government, consultant, etc. Jamie will be following up on this lead. We also
discussed potential workshops to have at the conference. John Hunt has a
workshop on culvert hydraulics, complete with flume demonstration that would be
very good. Only problem is to shorten it to 4 hours. He will be further
discussing it with his company. Want to ensure that they don’t discourage
people from attending a longer seminar on the subject. Other thoughts were to
have another workshop on Volume III of the UDFCD manual or NPDES. There will
also be a bike ride field trip at this time. We also briefly went over the time
schedule spreadsheet for conference planning. We discussed the items to be done
and the time line
