Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) Exam
The CWCB will be proctoring the Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) Exam on Thursday, April 2nd following a one and a half day review session on April 1st and 2nd at the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District offices in Denver. This certification program will lay the foundation for ensuring that highly qualified individuals are available to meet the challenge of breaking the flood damage cycle and stopping its negative drain on the nation’s human, financial, and natural resources. A fundamental goal for this certification is to help reduce the State’s flood losses and protect and enhance the natural resources and functions of its floodplains by improving the knowledge and abilities of floodplain managers in the State. The CFM program was developed by and is administered by the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM). A complete discussion of the CFM program can be read by clicking here.
CWCB encourages all local officials responsible for administering floodplain programs to become CFM’s! If you are a local government official, CWCB will cover the cost of the CFM review class, ASFPM membership, and exam fee – a value of $265!. Other floodplain professionals that assist local communities with stormwater or floodplain management issues are also highly encouraged to become CFM’s!
