2007 CRITERIA MANUAL WORKSHOPS

Colorado Water Conservation BoardColorado Association of Stormwater and Floodplain ManagersThe Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) and the Colorado Association of Stormwater and Floodplain Managers (CASFM) are pleased to announce the Colorado Floodplain & Stormwater Criteria Manual workshops. CWCB has prepared and organized a two volume manual for local floodplain and stormwater management. This new Colorado Floodplain & Stormwater Criteria Manual was published in 2006. Volume I suggests minimum guidelines for communities to adopt to manage their stormwater drainage areas and floodplains and to meet the requirements of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Presented in Volume II of the manual are suggested minimum design and technical standards for analysis of natural and manmade stormwater conveyance systems and design of storm drainage facilities.

These workshops will focus on how to use the Statewide Manual to enhance existing local stormwater and floodplain management programs.  The workshops will also summarize information in the Manual that supports compliance with the CWCB’s 2005 Rules and Regulations for regulatory floodplains in Colorado.  The target audience is 1) new or experienced local floodplain administrators, 2) local elected officials responsible for administering the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), 3) other local government personnel involved with the NFIP, and 4) consultants or others interested in the topics outlined below.  It is highly recommended that local floodplain administrators attend, regardless of their level of experience.  The majority of the workshop will consist of a condensed review of the two volume manual.
