James C.Y. Guo, P.E., PhD, is Professor in Water Resources and Director of Continuing Education Division in the University of Colorado at Denver. He has over 25 years of engineering experience in urban storm water modeling and published 60 some technical papers, three technical books, many chapters, and more than 10 computer models in the area of storm water management and urban drainage designs. Dr. Guo has been recognized with teaching, research, and service awards presented by the University of Colorado at Denver, and received honor awards from several professional societies. Many of Dr. Guo’s research products have been converted into design criteria and accepted by Denver, Las Vegas, and Sacramental metropolitan areas. He has been invited to present seminars and workshops in urban watershed modeling, storm sewer system design, detention/retention systems analysis, floodplain and river hydraulics.

This one day workshop covers the basic storm water predictions and modeling techniques using Colorado Urban Hydrograph Procedure (CUHP) and Urban Drainage Storm Water Management Model (UDSWMM). The workshop lecture will concentrate on the model development, input parameters, sensitivity, various applications to urban drainage facilities, case studies, and model limitations. The workshop will also include hands-on use of CUHP/UDSWMM through examples presented by the instructor.
