FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT 202

Colorado Water Conservation BoardColorado Association of Stormwater and Floodplain ManagersThe Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) and the Colorado Association of Stormwater and Floodplain Managers (CASFM) are continuing their tradition of presenting a series of workshops on issues surrounding floodplain management.  The target audience is 1) new or experienced local floodplain administrators, 2) local emergency managers, 3) local elected officials responsible for administering the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), 4) other local government personnel involved with the NFIP, and 5) consultants or others interested in the topics outlined below.  It is highly recommended that local floodplain administrators attend, regardless of their level of experience.  Although this workshop builds on the concepts discussed in previous workshops, attendance at those workshops should NOT be considered mandatory or a prerequisite to benefit from this course.

The topics of this year’s workshops revolve entirely around floodplain map change processes.  The majority of the workshop will consist of a condensed version of a popular and highly successful series of workshops regarding Letters of Map Change (LOMC) presented by CASFM earlier in the Denver metro area.  In addition, a module on local review of LOMC requests will be presented, along with a Map Modernization update.

This course will be preapproved for credit for the Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) program.  For information on taking this exam, or for information regarding the CFM program or registration, please see the CASFM Certified Floodplain Managers Page.
