DESCRIPTION:The Floodplain Management Committee is hosting a tour of the St. Vrain in Longmont! It is an extensive\, multi-year project to fully restore the St. Vrain Greenway and improve the St. Vrain Creek channel to protect people\, property\, and infrastructure from future flood risk. The project encompasses various phases\, and the tour will include details about what has been done and what will be done in the future. Meet at Dickens Park between 8:00 – 8:30 am. We will be starting at 8:30 and the tour of the site will be approximately 2.5 hours. Panorama Park has numerous accolades\, among them are the demonstration of how stormwater quality and quantity treatment can be woven into site design. SUMMARY:16th Street Mall Reconstruction Project Tour
DESCRIPTION:Please join the CASFM Outreach & Training Committee on a construction site tour on Wednesday\, June 26.  The 16th Street Mall reconstruction project is a complete renovation of the 16th Street Mall from Market to Broadway. The renovation includes relocation and replacement of utilities\, new granite pavers\, new mature trees within a soil cell system\, and public life elements to engage and educate the public. Storm water management along the Mall consists of a slot drain along the entire length of each block on both sides\, new storm sewer\, and new water quality facilities. The water quality facilities are a variety of Level of Green 2 and 3 facilities from Denver’s Ultra Urban Green Infrastructure Guidelines. \nAs part of the CASFM tour\, we will walk down Block 2 and see the new storm water infrastructure firsthand as full-block construction fencing between Larimer to Lawrence streets is a thing of the past! DESCRIPTION:Where: Hydro and Terra Buildings at Colorado State University’s Spur Campus\nAddress and parking information will be provided to registered attendees in the week prior to the tours. \nWhen: Tuesday\, October 24th 1:30-4:00pm; followed by a Happy Hour at the Denver Stockyard Saloon next door \nWhat: The CASFM Water Quality Committee is excited to offer tours of Colorado State University’ Spur Campus with a special focus on water research. The tours will span the Hydro and Terra research buildings\, with stops at the Water TAP Laboratory\, the Hydro Backyard\, stormwater bioretention test plots\, and green roofs. Tours will be led by research collaborators from CSU\, Mile High Flood District\, and the City and County of Denver. \nThe tour will be on-foot. Time will be spent inside\, outside\, and even on a roof! So be prepared for weather. \nRegistration: $10 (Registration fee covers costs of the event and appetizers at the Happy Hour. Any remaining funds will be donated to a community-based nonprofit organization affiliated with CSU Spur). There are a limited number of spots so register early to claim one. The bike tour will begin at the Legacy Plaza and wind through downtown Colorado Springs following the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail along Monument Creek through America the Beautiful Park and then through downtown past the Weidner Field soccer stadium and Pikes Peak Center for Performing Arts. The bike tour will cover seven miles round trip on mostly flat concrete/gravel trails and urban streets. The tour will make several stops at green infrastructure sites including vegetated sand filters and silva cells. The tour will end at Phantom Canyon Brewing (a member of the Fountain Creek Watershed Brewshed Alliance) for happy hour. If you cannot make the tour\, you are still welcome to join us for happy hour. \nThere is no cost associated with the bike tour\, but you must register to attend\, and space is limited.
