SUMMARY:Risk Rating 2.0: What Floodplain Managers Need to Know
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for the 2.5-hour online workshop Risk Rating 2.0: What Floodplain Managers Need to Know for an in-depth discussion on this new flood insurance rating methodology. Presented by FEMA\, in cooperation with the ASFPM Flood Insurance Committee\, ASFPM is making this program available to all ASFPM members. We’re offering the same workshop at three different times to ensure that all members who want to attend\, will be able to do so. \nEven if you’ve attended one of FEMA’s Risk Rating 2.0 webinars for insurance companies or agents being offered throughout the summer and fall\, you will want to attend this program. It was developed specifically for ASFPM members and will include issues that are most important to state and local floodplain management practitioners. It will also provide 2 Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for Certified Floodplain Managers. \n  \nStarting October 1\, Risk Rating 2.0 fundamentally changes the way FEMA rates a property’s flood risk and prices insurance. The new methodology incorporates more flood risk variables to more accurately reflect a property’s individual flood risk\, including flood frequency\, multiple flood types—river overflow\, storm surge\, coastal erosion and heavy rainfall—and distance to a water source along with property characteristics such as elevation and the cost to rebuild. \n  \nLearning objectives: As a floodplain manager\, increasing your understanding of Risk Rating 2.0 is important to our collective efforts to help educate community members\, dispel any myths\, and increase participation in the program. \nBy attending this workshop\, you will: \n\nReceive an overview of Risk Rating 2.0\nUnderstand the key differences you need to know between the old and new rating systems\nGain in-depth knowledge on the key rating variables affecting the new rates\n\n  \nPresenter: Shilpa Mulik\, Program Specialist\, Floodplain Management Division\, FEMA \nREGISTER NOW FOR NOV. 17th \n  \nDates: \nParticipants must register in advance and will be confirmed on a first-come\, first-served basis. Each workshop can accommodate 1\,000 participants. The two remaining online workshops will cover the same content and are available at these dates and times: \nTuesday\, Oct. 19 12:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. ET \nWednesday\, Nov. 17 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. ET \nLength: 2.5 hours (including 30 minutes of Q&A) \nPresenter: Shilpa Mulik\, Program Specialist\, Floodplain Management Division\, FEMA \n  \n*The September 23rd workshop\, originally scheduled for 2 hours\, has been extended to 2.5 hours. The link to register can be found via our training calendar\, here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\nBy attending this workshop\, you will: \n\nReceive an overview of Risk Rating 2.0\nUnderstand the key differences you need to know between the old and new rating systems\nGain in-depth knowledge on the key rating variables affecting the new rates\n\n  \nPresenter: Shilpa Mulik\, Program Specialist\, Floodplain Management Division\, FEMA \nREGISTER NOW FOR OCT. 19th \n  \nDates: \nParticipants must register in advance and will be confirmed on a first-come\, first-served basis.

SUMMARY:Stormwater Programming Lessons Learned - Lunch and Learn Series Events
DESCRIPTION:Stormwater Programming Lessons Learned with Richard Mulledy\, City of Colorado Springs \nCOURSE OBJECTIVES: \n\nProvide an overview of the City of Colorado Springs Stormwater Program\, it’s structure\, and future projects/programs/initiatives.\nDiscuss lessons learned from the recent MS4 Permit enforcement action\, federal trial\, and consent decree negotiations.\nProvide an overview of the City’s recently adopted consent decree structure and requirements.\n\nOver the last 5 years\, the City of Colorado Springs has drastically transformed its stormwater program. The transformation starting in 2016\, with a $460 million commitment by the City to improve its program and citywide stormwater infrastructure system. This agreement commits the city to improving its stormwater program\, completing a significant number of stormwater related infrastructure projects\, and improving the maintenance operations of its stormwater infrastructure. At the same time\, the City has been working hard to settle an enforcement action and federal lawsuit brought forward by the United States EPA\, the State of Colorado\, Pueblo County\, and the Lower Arkansas Valley Water Conservation District for noncompliance of its MS4 permit. Finally\, the City of Colorado Springs recently passed\, by ballot measure\, the reintroduction of a stormwater fee on developed and improved properties. The approved ballot measure reinstates the Stormwater Enterprise and provides a fee structure for the generation of revenue necessary to implement stormwater related projects\, programs\, and consent decree requirements. \nCOST: FREE \nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER \nColorado Springs LnL FLyer
