Municipal Stormwater Partnership

The Municipal Stormwater Partnership, or MSWaP, is a knowledge sharing platform designed for municipal employees across Colorado involved in public or private storm drainage infrastructure installation and maintenance. Its primary mission is to answer the question “what do other municipalities do?”

Potential topics for the group include the following:

  • Share outreach and education opportunities
  • To enhance collaboration between public servants, both internally and externally
  • Development review processes and drainage criteria
  • Guidance through political shifts
  • Assistance with capital and operating budget requests
  • Project management techniques
  • Procurement scopes of work
  • Construction management techniques and lessons learned
  • Level of Service and aging infrastructure
  • Maintenance challenges
  • Floodplain management and permitting

This will be a committee independent of CASFM, but Melanie Walter from the City of Arvada is the initial chairperson and will report back to them as needed. Please forward to any Colorado government or quasi-government employee that may be interested, they do not need to be a member of CASFM.

To join, go to mswap.org and choose which group(s) apply to you. Feel free to join as many groups as you would like: Capital Improvements, Development Review, Floodplain Management, and MS4 compliance. If you have any issues, please contact casfm@casfm.org.
